Family of Nobel laureate Narges Mohammadi: “The Iranian regime doomed her to a slow death”

The family of jailed Iranian activist and human rights activist Narges Mohammadi, winner of the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize, says the ayatollah’s regime is condemning her to a slow death by refusing to allow surgery to test whether she has cancer.

A few days ago, lawyer Mostafa Nili said that doctors discovered that imprisoned Mohammadi had bone damage that could be cancerous. This suspicion can be checked using a biopsy – taking a bone sample for testing.

According to those close to her, the regime’s goal is to get rid of Narges in a way that avoids direct responsibility for her death.

Narges was awarded the Nobel Prize “for her struggle against the oppression of women in Iran and her struggle to promote human rights and freedom for all.” She is being held in Evin prison, known for its harsh regime. An additional six months was recently added to her 30-month sentence.
