Germany | Money messengers are on strike nationwide today: Will we soon run out of cash?

Will there be a shortage of cash in the run-up to Christmas because ATMs are running out of supplies?

Another warning strike in the cash transport industry! The Verdi service union has invited the 10,000 cash and valuables transport employees to the all-day nationwide meeting on Monday, November 11th Strike called.

This is intended to build up more pressure before the next round of negotiations on November 14th. There was already a two-day walkout by cash transport workers in October. Individual banks had warned their customers about a cash shortage.

The union is calling for the Money boats a nationwide level on topics such as vacation, overtime bonus regulations and one-off payments. The employers have announced a new offer regarding the wage claim for the next negotiation date on November 14th. Verdi charges 22.50 euros per hour for mobile workers and 19.50 euros per hour for stationary workers.

“Big steps are still needed,” said ver.di negotiator Sonja Austermühle and called on employers to take the demands seriously and submit a negotiable offer.

The union is demanding overtime bonuses starting at eight hours, as well as a uniform holiday and Christmas bonus each amounting to half the gross monthly salary and a holiday entitlement of 31 days – based on a five-day week.
