Israeli President Isaac Herzog spoke at the annual conference of the Federation of Jewish Communities of North America, which takes place in Washington. The Israeli politician called for everything possible to be done to return the hostages taken by Hamas terrorists.
Recalling that 101 hostages, including women and children, have been held by the terrorist group for more than 400 days, he called on the leaders of the American Jewish community to fight for their return. “If we fail in this, the bloody wound will last for generations,” Herzog said.
The Israeli leader also touched upon the surge of anti-Semitism in the world. “The horrific scenes we witnessed in Amsterdam the other day, with Jews running for their lives in the very center of Europe, are a reminder of things we hoped never to see,” the politician said.
The Duke noted that this anti-Semitism is fueled by the Iranian regime, which seeks to possess a nuclear bomb and openly calls for the destruction of the Jewish state. He called Iran an “evil empire” that has many agents around the world and actively uses social networks.
“Israel is gradually changing the balance of power in the fight against Iran and its satellites. Standing on this podium in Washington, I call on the free world to give a powerful rebuff to barbarity – together and fearlessly, together with our allies, chief of which is the United States,” the president concluded .
