Today the Biden-Trump face-to-face at the White House. Because in 2020 the meeting was missed

Today in the Oval Office of the White House, United States President Joe Biden will meet his successor, Donald Trump, a week after the presidential elections which decreed the tycoon’s triumph. In the 2020 there was no meeting between the two presidents because Trump had refused to admit defeat to Biden. The tycoon did not participate in the inauguration of the new presidential mandate. The climate is different now.

After the election night, Biden immediately called his successor to congratulate him, meeting him in the Oval Office where, above all, international political issues will be discussed. On the table will be the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the crisis in the Middle East and the Taiwan issue. Trump arrives at this summit having already chosen the new Secretary of State, Florida Senator Marco Rubio,a great supporter of Israel’s hard line towards Hamas and Hezbollah, and against the ceasefire. With Rubio, the new administration wanted to send a signal to the Middle East region: Washington will stand by Israel and give Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu carte blanche.

In recent days, signs of change have also arrived on the Ukrainian front, and in this case of a break with the line followed so far by Biden: one of his former advisors and one of the leaders of this year’s election campaign, Bryan Lanza, has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to give up Crimea for lost and come to the negotiating table to end the war with Russia. Trump’s staff distanced themselves, but this position came after the revelation of an alleged phone call that took place between the tycoon and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and in which Trump’s friend, the billionaire owner of the X platform Elon Musk, allegedly participated .

The phone call was denied by Trump and the Kremlin himself, while there was no denial of the statement from the Israeli prime minister, who said he had spoken numerous times with the tycoon, his historic friend, immediately after the elections. The president and his successor will meet at 11 am Washington time, 5 pm in Italy.

In view of this appointment, Trump is proceeding quickly with the creation of the new team with other appointments.
Pete Hegseth, a former major in the United States Army and current host of Fox News, the favorite channel of conservatives in the United States, has been announced as the next Secretary of Defense. “With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are warned: Our military will once again experience greatness, and America will never back down,” the president-elect said in a statement. Billionaire Elon Musk and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy will head the Department for Government Efficiency.

Congressman Michael Waltz, a former Special Forces officer, was Trump’s choice for White House national security adviser. Its former director of national intelligence (from May 2020 to January 2021), former Congressman John Ratcliffe, will lead the Central Intelligence Agency. “He will be a fearless fighter for the constitutional rights of all Americans, while ensuring the highest levels of national security and peace through strength,” the tycoon said. Earlier Monday, veteran immigration official Tom Homan was appointed as the country’s “border czar.”

US media also reported that Stephen Miller, author of Trump’s so-called “Muslim ban” immigration policy during his first term, will take a powerful position as deputy chief of staff. Rounding out the immigration team, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has been tapped as secretary of Homeland Security, a portfolio that includes Customs and Border Protection. A faithful ally of the president-elect, she will “work closely” with Tom Homan, who has been entrusted with the burning issue of immigration control. Lee Zeldin will head the Environmental Protection Agency, with a mandate to roll back climate and pollution regulations that Republicans say are slowing business development. New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, a fierce Trump ally and supporter of Israel, will serve as U.N. ambassador. Another staunch pro-Israel figure, former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, has been named ambassador to Israel, while Trump has said businessman and real estate expert Steven Witkoff will act as special adviser for the Middle East.
