Azerbaijan and Armenia will return to the discussion of the text of the peace treaty in December. Hajiev

Azerbaijan and Armenia will return to the discussion of the text of the peace treaty in December, Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, told TASS, noting that at the moment, the main topic of Baku’s agenda is the COP-29, which runs until November 24.

“Certainly, starting from December, a new process will begin between Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding the continuation of discussions and negotiations on the text of the peace treaty,” Hajiyev said.

Emphasizing that there are still some questions in the text of the document, Hajiyev informed that discussions and negotiations are ongoing at the expert level.

“Since the Armenian side did not respond on time to our proposal for the text of the peace treaty, in this context we consider the process late, therefore a new process will probably start from December,” concluded the aide of the Azerbaijani president, without further clarifications.

On November 5, Yerevan received the proposals of the Azerbaijani side regarding the draft peace treaty. Earlier, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan informed that they are working with the Azerbaijani side on “one or two wordings” of the document, after which, according to him, it will be ready for signing. After receiving the 11th revision, the official Yerevan announced that one or two issues remain unagreed. Baku also noted that two of them refer to the withdrawal of EU observers from the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and the exclusion of legal disputes with Armenia. Yerevan neither denied nor confirmed their authenticity. The Armenian government assures that there are positive developments in the negotiations, and they see the possibility of signing an agreement after more than two years of discussions.

Yesterday, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced that the signing of the peace treaty by the end of this year depends on Armenia, noting that the main points of the draft treaty have been agreed upon.
