Mike Huckabee appointed US ambassador to Israel: “You allowed for the application of sovereignty”

Mike Huckabee.the American ambassador designated to Israel as of January, was interviewed this morning (Wednesday) by Sefi Ovadia and Vinir Kozin in the GLC, after the announcement of his appointment. “For me on a personal level, this is a wonderful opportunity to represent my country in a country that I loved from the first moment I visited it 52 years ago,” he said excitedly.

“I have visited Yosh many times and am a devout believer in maintaining Israel’s security. “Anything I can do to support that would be a huge privilege for me,” he added.Of course there is a chance of applying sovereigntyI will not set policy but implement it. There is no American president who has been more supportive than President Trump,” he said, noting Trump’s decision to break the status quo, by moving the United States embassy to Jerusalem, and by recognizing Israel’s sovereignty in the Golan Heights.

Huckabee, who is considered an ardent supporter of Israel and close to Trump, is the father of the deputy White House spokesman, the former governor of Arkansas, and who was the candidate for the presidency of the Republican Party in the last presidential election in 2016. Huckabee previously rejected the two-state solution, spoke in favor of Israel’s right to Judea and Samaria and supported Later on the settlement enterprise.

He has already managed to visit Israel several times, according to estimates about 7-8 times a year, in which he served as a certified tourist guide to Israel. He visited Ariel University and expressed his support for the institution. In 2019 he was present at the tour of ancient Shiloh and in 2017 at Yosef’s tomb.

At the same time, he stood next to the worshipers at the grave and said that “there is an unbelievable situation here where Jews are forced to go through smoke bombs, fires and roadblocks in order to reach their holy place to pray, while thousands of soldiers are guarding them. I don’t think people in the US understand what Israelis have to go through Just to pray.”
