Trump appoints Communications Spokesperson

The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, appointed this Friday (15) the new White House Communications Director. The chosen one was Steven Cheung, 42 years old, a former political advisor for the Republican Party who served as spokesperson for this year’s campaign.

Son of Chinese immigrants who settled in the Californian city of Sacramento, where he was born and raised, his name is Huyen Cheung. But he ended up incorporating the name “Steven” when he started playing football in high school.

While still attending university, where he specialized in Computer Science and Political Science, he received an opportunity to intern in the communications office of the then governor of California, Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In 2008, he was invited to work on John McCain’s presidential campaign, from the same party, and ended up settling in Washington – to, in the following years, work in the communications area for several other Republican candidates for the Senate and state governments.

Five years later, he switched from politics to sports marketing, becoming public relations for the biggest MMA tournament in the world, the UFC. But he returned to his old career in 2016, when Donald Trump was chosen to run for president by the party.

Since then, Steven Cheung has been one of Trump’s most loyal allies. During his first term, he was the government’s “strategic response director”. He returned to the team this year as campaign spokesperson and is now promoted to White House Communications.

Founder of publishing house that published Trump’s memoirs will also work in government

Donald Trump also nominated this Thursday another of his most loyal advisers to the position of assistant to the president and “presidential personnel director”.

This is Sergio Gor, co-founder, with Donald Trump Jr., of Winning Team Publishing, a publisher with a conservative bias created after Trump was unable to close an agreement with any of the major companies in the field in the USA to publish his memoirs.

The project ended up being a great success, launching books by other authors aligned with conservatism and earning a huge amount in royalties for the Trump family.

In a note released to the press, the next American president commented on the two nominations of the day. “Steven Cheung and Sergio Gor have been trusted advisors since my first presidential campaign and continued to defend our principles during my first term, until our historic victory this year. I’m thrilled to have them in the White House.”
