The European Union and Great Britain announce the expansion of sanctions against Iran in connection with Tehran’s assistance to Russia in the war against Ukraine.
Russian ships and transport companies, which are registered in Astrakhan and engaged in cargo transportation, are also targeted by the sanctions. It is believed that it is through these companies that Russia imports weapons from Iran.
The European Commission reports that the list of sanctions includes Iran’s state shipping company and its director, as well as commercial ships and ports in the Caspian Sea.
Great Britain, in turn, applies restrictions to Iran’s state-owned air and sea companies, and to the Russian Port Olya-3 ship.
The West condemns and sanctions Tehran for supplying Moscow with weapons, including Shahed drones, which are used in the war in Ukraine. Recently, there were reports about Tehran transferring short-range ballistic missiles to the Kremlin.
