US president-elect Donald Trump confirms today (Monday) on his social network Truth Social that he is preparing to declare a state of national emergency in which he will use US military troops to carry out a mass deportation operation of illegal immigrants who have entered the US.
Trump reposted a tweet of Tom Peyton president of “Judicial Watch”. This is a conservative organization that is active both in the courts and in social media on a number of culture war issues, including challenging the legality of the elections. Fitton wrote: “Good news: Reports that President-elect Donald Trump is preparing to declare a national emergency and will use military force to turn the ‘Biden invasion’ into a mass deportation.” In response, the president wrote, “That’s true.”
It was also reported that anti-immigration activists are preparing to act quickly given the directive on mass deportation of illegal immigrants, but there are still many questions regarding the legal, logistical and budgetary limitations of an ambitious plan like the one supported by Trump.
During his election campaign, Trump promised to implement the mass deportation plan according to the “Alien Enemies Act”, which is an American law from the 18th century that allows for the arrest and rapid removal of any foreign citizen over the age of 14 who immigrated to the US from a country that is at war with it. However, the United States has not officially declared a state of war with any country since 1942.
