The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, pardoned 32 more political prisoners ahead of the presidential elections to be held in January.
It is reported that 17 of the 32 citizens accused of “Extremis” have chronic diseases. The names of those released have not been published.
Human rights activists estimate that more than 1,000 people remain behind bars due to the demonstrations following the 2020 elections. In recent months, Lukashenko has made such a decision several times, according to some experts, they are trying to raise the president’s rating with these steps.
