Gaetz leaves, Pam Bondi will be the new US Justice Minister

Donald Trump he named Pam Bondi new Minister of Justice. The announcement came a few hours after the resignation of the position of Attorney General made by Matt Gaetz. Bondi, 59, a former Trump lawyer, was Florida’s attorney general. In 2016, he was among the people who joined the “arrest her” chant, directed at Trump’s then-adversary, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. After the 2020 election, Bondi was involved in the team that attempted to overturn the result, falsely claiming there had been fraud.

“Pam was a prosecutor for nearly twenty years, where she got tough on violent criminals and made the streets of Florida safer,” Trump said, announcing the appointment on the Truth social media platform. “As Florida’s first female attorney general,” Trump added, “Pam has worked to stop the trafficking of deadly drugs and reduce deaths from fentanyl overdoses, tragedies that have devastated families across the country.”

Gaetz had retired after being overwhelmed by the scandal linked to his alleged participation in drug-based orgies in which he allegedly sex even with a minor. “The nomination of Pam Bondi as Attorney General is a stellar choice by President Trump,” commented Gaetz. “Pam and I worked closely together when she served as attorney general of Florida. She is an experienced prosecutor, an inspirational leader and a role model for all Americans.” “It will bring,” concluded Gaetz, “necessary reforms to the Justice Department.”
