The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) announced the imminent commissioning of a significant number of new centrifuges for uranium enrichment in response to the anti-Iran resolution adopted on November 21 by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), TASS reports.
“Iran’s relevant structures at various levels have previously warned that taking any measures aimed at confrontation and using the Board of Governors (IAEA) to promote illegal, politically motivated statements will face retaliatory measures. <…> In this regard, the head of the AEOI ordered to take appropriate measures, including the launch of a significant number of new advanced centrifuges of various types,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.</…>
The SNN television channel reported that Iran, in response to the IAEA resolution, began installing three new generations of gas centrifuges at its nuclear facilities to separate uranium isotopes. This will allow it to significantly increase its reserves of enriched nuclear fuel.
The IAEA Board of Governors adopted 21 resolutions criticizing Iran for its lack of cooperation with the agency. The resolution calls on Iran to improve cooperation with the agency. The document also contains a request to the IAEA to prepare a detailed report on Iran by the spring of 2025. The resolution was adopted with 19 votes in favor, 3 countries voted against, and another 12 abstained.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said on this occasion: “The IAEA Board of Governors adopted an important resolution, instructing the IAEA to prepare a comprehensive assessment of all nuclear violations by Iran. Iran’s pursuit of an atomic bomb must be stopped, and for this the world needs to increase pressure on the Iranian regime. The adopted resolution is an important part of diplomatic efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.”
