Negotiators for an agreement between Israel and Hezbollah expressed “cautious optimism”

American, Israeli and Lebanese officials involved in negotiations on a settlement agreement between Israel and Hezbollah said the parties’ terms were “beginning to take shape.” This was reported by The New York Times.

“We still have to work out key details,” the sources say, “but there are grounds for “cautious optimism.”

Sources warned that differences between the parties could arise when it comes to guarantees related to the implementation of the agreement and its compliance.

As currently drafted, the agreement calls for 60 days during which Israel will withdraw from southern Lebanon while Hezbollah moves north of the Litani River.
