In the United States, Arthur Frommer, the “wandering Jew” who created his own empire of guidebooks for the middle class, died at the age of 95, JTA reports.

By writing and self-publishing the guidebook “Europe on $5 a Day” in 1957, Frommer declared travel accessible to everyone, not just the rich. Over 60 years of activity, Frommer’s company has released about 350 titles on the guidebook market; the books have sold more than 75 million copies.

Today, the brand continues to exist, publishing books and podcasts for lovers of economy travel.
