The new purchase in Donald Trump’s beehive: the finance minister who will bring the agenda

In a series of messages published yesterday (Friday), the incoming US president announced, Donald Trump,on additional senior appointments to the new administration. Among other things, Trump announced the appointment of the billionaire hedge fund manager Scott Bessant for the position of Minister of Finance. Besant is expected to lead Trump’s economic agenda, which will focus on raising tariffs and lowering taxes.

in the meantime, Russell Watt,a key figure in the conservative program “Project 2025”, was appointed head of the Ministry of Management and Budget; Congresswoman Laurie Chavez-Dreamer From Oregon she was appointed Secretary of Labor; Dr Martin McCurry will be headed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA); and dr Dave and Dona former congressman from Florida, will serve as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Trump wrote about Bessant on social networks: “Scott is considered one of the most respected international investors in the world and a first-class economic and political strategist. His story is the embodiment of the American dream. Together we will make America rich again, prosperous again, attainable again, and most importantly – great again.”

Basant, who rose to prominence as a protégé of the billionaire and Democratic donor George Sorosis expected to lead an economic agenda that includes raising tariffs and lowering taxes. He advocates eliminating government subsidies, reducing regulation and increasing domestic energy production. Unlike many on Wall Street, Besant supports the use of tariffs – a policy tool favored by Trump.

If confirmed by the Senate, Bessant will head an office with wide powers, and will be responsible for advancing the administration’s tax plans in Congress, managing the economic negotiations with China and overseeing the US sanctions program. This at a time when the national debt is approaching 36 trillion dollars, and the proposed policies Trump’s could cost up to 15 trillion dollars in the next decade.

Bessant’s appointment was criticized by Democrats. The senator Ron Wyden Oregon said that “Trump claims to be an economic populist, but the Treasury Department under Trump is of the extremely rich, by the extremely rich and for the extremely rich.”
