The President of Syria, Bashar Assad, turned to Israel for assistance against the Syrian opposition forces – this is what a security source told Al-Ap today (Monday), that the message was conveyed through one of Assad’s leading advisers in Europe.
According to the source, Israel replied that it is not involved in what is happening in Syria, but set a condition – the departure of Iranian forces and its militias from Syria before Israel agrees to help. On the other hand, an Israeli source denied the reports.
The request came after a few days earlier the Syrian opposition launched a large-scale attack on the Aleppo region and its suburbs, and began advancing towards the cities and villages of Hama, Idlib and other areas.
The Syrian army was forced to withdraw completely from these areas, when there were no large Syrian forces left in them, but only a dominant presence of Iran and the Shiite militias it supports. Assad turned to Israel for military help – but only if Iran leaves Syria.
Meanwhile, the clashes between the Syrian rebels and the Syrian army continued even today and the factions continue to deepen their gains on the ground. According to the Syrian opposition, the rebel forces tripled their control of the area since November 27 in two parallel attacks, which they called: “Dawn of Freedom” and “Aggression Alert”.
According to reports in Syria, the rebel organizations attacked a helicopter belonging to the Assad regime at the airport in Hama with a UAV and caused damage that put it out of use.
In addition, the rebel factions captured an S-125 air defense system of the Syrian army in the city of Aleppo without interference. The system was normal and operational and was found on the field route without any guarding.
