The messages on the bullets
On the shell casings recovered at the crime scene in Manhattan, ABC News reveals, the police found messages left by the killer: “Deny”, “Defend”, “Depose” are the words identified.
The investigators are trying to interpret the messages in search of a motive, but the reference to insurance coverage and health care appears evident: the 3 words, in fact, recall the title of a book by Jay M. Feinman (Delay – Deny – Defend) available since 2010. The cover of the book is eloquent: “Why insurance companies don’t pay out after claims and what you can do“. Two words printed on the cartridge cases are identical to those of the title of the book. On the cover, the third is “Ritardare”, replaced on the cartridge case by “Depose”.
The search for the killer
The hunt for the killer has continued since yesterday also thanks to the video images, recorded by the surveillance cameras of a place where he went before the murder. The New York police released the videos. In the videos, an individual appears with his face partially covered, the hood of his jacket raised and a backpack on his shoulders: the frame is in line with the image of the killer filmed in action in front of the Hilton hotel, where the crime was committed.
For investigators, it was a “targeted attack” and they are investigating the threats that Thompson, according to his wife, has received in recent times.
