In the afternoon, Defense Minister Israel Katz held a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff Forum, following which the IDF press service reported that the Israel Defense Forces are closely monitoring developments in Syria and are preparing for any possible scenarios, both in terms of defense and in terms of attack. “The IDF will not allow a threat in the area of the Syrian-Israeli border, and will destroy any threat to the citizens of the country,” the message emphasizes.
On Thursday, December 5, the forces of the jihadist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, together with detachments of the pro-Turkish armed opposition, captured the Syrian city of Hama, the center of the province of the same name.
