The 9th night of protests in Georgia was again accompanied by clashes between demonstrators and the police, dozens of citizens were detained.
The media reported that the security forces used tear gas and water cannons in Tbilisi.
The France-Presse agency reports that until the police actions, the demonstration was mostly peaceful.
The Ministry of Interior claims that the forces dispersed the gathering when “the actions of some of the participants of the demonstration became violent”.
A new wave of protests in Georgia followed Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s announcement that Tbilisi is suspending EU membership negotiations until 2028. Thousands of citizens are demonstrating on the streets of Tbilisi, demanding the resignation of the government, which are accompanied by clashes with the security forces.
