Notre-Dame reopens for a large number of heads of state and celebrities

The famous Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris was festively opened on Saturday after it was largely destroyed by a fire in April 2019. A large number of heads of state and celebrities were present at the reopening.

After five years of renovation and restoration work, the time had finally come on Saturday. Notre-Dame opened its doors again. At just after 7pm the bells rang again and the archbishop then knocked three times on the door of the iconic cathedral. Notre Dame responded by singing Psalm 121 three times in a row. “Open your doors,” said the archbishop, who then entered the cathedral. He was followed by President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte.

Many celebrities and heads of state sat in the cathedral. Future US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde were present, among others. But also British Prince William, billionaire Elon Musk and singer Pharrell Williams. In total, about forty heads of state and government, crowned heads and prominent personalities have been invited. Our royal couple also went to Paris.
