26-year-old Luigi Mangione, who is suspected of murdering the director of UnitedHealthcare, was arrested in the USA on Monday, the BBC reported.
Mangione was arrested at McDonald’s while reading a book. An employee of the restaurant recognized him from the photos released by the police.
Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, the largest US health insurance company, was shot dead near the Hilton Hotel in downtown Manhattan last Wednesday.A reward of $60,000 was offered for information about the suspect.
Several items related to the incident, including a mask and a firearm, were found on Mangione’s possession, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said.
He was arrested for carrying a weapon. He has not yet been charged with Brian Thompson’s murder.
At the time of his arrest, he was also found to have several identification documents, one in his real name and one fake, as well as a US passport and a fake New Jersey ID that he used to check into a New York dorm.
According to police, the boy was also found with a handwritten “three-page manifesto” that appeared to contain the motive for the attack, a police spokesman told reporters.
