Brazilian President Lula was again under the knife on Thursday after a brain haemorrhage

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (79), who underwent emergency surgery on Tuesday after a brain haemorrhage, must undergo a new procedure on Thursday. According to the medical team, this is an “additional skull operation”.

“As part of the therapeutic program, the President will undergo further surgery on Thursday morning, with an endovascular intervention,” read the medical bulletin from the Sírio-Libanês private hospital in Sao Paulo.

According to the hospital, the brain hemorrhage, which was diagnosed on Monday evening with a brain scan, is the result of the fall that Lula suffered at home on October 19. As a result of that fall, the president had already had to cancel his trip to the Brics summit in Kazan, Russia.

The Sírio-Libanês Private Hospital is one of the most renowned hospitals in Latin America. It was founded in 1965 by members of the Syrian-Lebanese community in São Paulo.
