Trump’s special envoy will visit Ukraine at the beginning of January, Moscow is not planned.

General Keith Kellogg, whom US President-elect Donald Trump proposed to appoint as a special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, will visit Kiev and a number of European capitals in early January, Reuters reports, noting that the visit is part of efforts to end the war.

Citing two sources familiar with the travel plans, Reuters writes that the 80-year-old Kellogg is not going to visit Moscow during this trip.

It is expected that he will hold talks with the leaders of Ukraine in Kyiv.

Kellogg’s team is also working to organize meetings with European leaders in Rome and Paris, Reuters reported, noting that the visits at this stage are mainly aimed at “gathering information” and not active negotiations.

At the same time, one of the sources told Reuters that the plan of the visit is still being developed, not excluding that it may undergo changes.

It is noted that this tour proves that the US president-elect attaches great importance to the end of the war in Ukraine.

On Monday, during a press conference held in Florida, Trump announced that he would talk to both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about a possible end to the war in Ukraine.

“We are trying to stop this terrible, terrible war. There is some small progress,” said the newly elected US president.

During his pre-election campaign, Trump has repeatedly stated that he intends to end the Ukrainian conflict, without specifying details.
