The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, has declared himself convinced that nuclear energy is preparing a “triumphant return” during his announcement this past Friday of the so-called Argentine Nuclear Plan that contemplates the use of this source for the development of artificial intelligence technology. in the country.

“The development potential in artificial intelligence is so immense that conventional energy will not be enough to supply this new demand, which is why we are convinced that a resurgence of nuclear energy will be generated throughout the world,” said Milei. , accompanied by the head of the Council of Advisors, Demian Reidel, and the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi.

To do this, the president has explained that he intends to use the lands of the Patagonia region, whose low temperatures represent “a comparative advantage for setting up Artificial Intelligence servers”, so prone to overheating.

“Nuclear energy once again occupies its rightful place,” stated the Argentine president before announcing, as a touchstone of the project, the construction of a small modular reactor (SMR) at the Atucha Nuclear Power Plant located in the town of Lima, province of Buenos Aires.

This initiative, adds the Argentine Government in its statement, will facilitate access to energy throughout the country and will considerably reduce power outages.
