Pope calls strikes on Gaza “atrocity”

Pope Francis again condemned Israel’s airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.

In his annual Christmas message, Francis said that this is not a war, “it is just cruelty”.

“They bombed children yesterday,” the Pope said on Saturday, saying that he has been quite open about Israel’s actions lately.

The Israeli government had earlier publicly condemned the pontiff for his statement calling on the world community to investigate whether the military mission in Gaza was genocide against the Palestinian people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel has announced that Israel is protecting itself from the brutal actions of the militants of “Hamas”, recognized as a terrorist by the USA and the EU.
