Armenia recognizes the passports of Kosovo, but this does not mean recognition of the state

Armenia and Kosovo have reached an agreement to mutually provide for the possibility of applying for an entry visa with the passports issued by each other, “Azatutyun” conveyed from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo, Kreshnik Ahmeti, wrote in X that Armenia officially recognized the passports of Kosovo, including public, diplomatic and service ones.

As for the nature of bilateral interaction, the Foreign Ministry of Armenia said: “The existing dialogue between the Republic of Armenia and Kosovo is maintained on various platforms, through bilateral meetings, discussions, steps are taken to revitalize tourism ties and people-to-people contacts, which does not mean recognition.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that in this regard, Yerevan is not an exception at all. many countries around the world, including a number of EU member states, recognize Kosovo passports and have sectoral cooperation with Kosovo without recognition.

Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008. Pristina’s independence has been recognized by more than 100 countries, including the USA, Great Britain and many countries of the European Union. However, a number of countries, including Serbia, Russia, and China, do not recognize Kosovo’s independence.
