The Houthis declared another attempt to fire rockets at central Israel successful.

The Shia-Zaidi paramilitary group Ansar Allah (Houthis) has claimed responsibility for another attempted rocket attack on central Israel. Houthi spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sari said that a Falastin-2 hypersonic ballistic missile was fired at “occupied Jaffa” (Tel Aviv), Al-Masirah TV channel reported.

Sari claims that “the goal was achieved” and that “the operation was successful.”

At 1:44-1:47 a.m. on December 24, the “Tseva Adom” alarm sirens sounded again in the center of Israel. The IDF reported rocket fire from Yemen. Sirens were heard in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Bnei Brak, Givatayim, Herzliya, Ra’anana, Rosh HaAyin, Hod Hasharon, Ramat Hasharon, Bat Yam, Holon, Rishon Lezion, Ness. Zion, Beer Yaakov, Petah Tikva, Bnei Brak, Or Yehuda, Ramla, Lod, Yavne, Ramla, in many other settlements in the center of the country. The alarm was also heard in Arad and several other settlements in the Negev.

The IDF soon reported that the rocket fired from Yemen was intercepted before crossing the Israeli air border. The alert was activated due to concerns about the possibility of falling fragments of interceptor missiles.

Magen David Adom Ambulance Service (MADA) reports that after the siren, medical assistance was provided to more than 20 citizens who were injured on the way to shelter or needed help to recover from nervous shock.

Later there was a clarification from MADA: about 25 victims needed help, including in Tel Aviv on Abraham Boyer Street, where a woman about 60 years old received a severe head injury when she rushed to a shelter – she was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.

The previous afternoon, the IDF announced that an unmanned aircraft flying from Yemen had been intercepted. The UAV was shot down before it entered Israeli airspace.

The previous rocket attack on Israeli territory from Yemen took place on the night of December 21. Then attempts to intercept a ballistic missile fired by the Houthis were unsuccessful – the missile fell on a children’s playground in Jaffa, causing damage. Dozens of people were slightly injured by glass fragments and suffered injuries.

The terrorist organization Ansar Allah issued a statement on December 21, claiming responsibility for the rocket attack on Tel Aviv and reporting that a “hypersonic” ballistic missile, Falastin-2, had been fired at Israel. The statement noted the fact that Israeli air defense forces were unable to intercept the missile and said attacks on Israel would continue until a ceasefire in Gaza.

Previously, rocket attacks on Israeli territory from Yemen were recorded on December 19, 2024. Then a fragment of a warhead from an intercepted missile destroyed a school on Sderot HaOranim Street in the Ramat Efal district of Ramat Gan. There were no casualties.

On the night of December 19, 2024, the IDF Air Force and Navy carried out strikes against targets in Yemen. The operation, codenamed “White City”, was carried out in two stages. First, eight Houthi ships in Yemeni ports that could be used to deliver weapons and weapons components were attacked. The Israeli Air Force then attacked four targets in the port of Hodeidah, two targets in the oil complex in the Ras Issa area, and two power plants in the south and north of Sana’a. There were reports of severe fires. There was a power cut in Sana’a. According to the Yemeni side, there were dozens killed and wounded.

Rocket attacks from Yemen were also recorded on December 16, September 27 and September 15, 2024. The Houthis used Falastin-2 ballistic missiles to attack Israeli territory.

According to the IDF, since the start of the War of Iron Swords (October 7, 2023), the Houthis have fired more than 200 missiles (both ballistic and cruise) and launched 170 attack drones towards Israeli territory, the vast majority of which were intercepted outside airspace Israel – both by the IDF and the allied forces.

The IDF has attacked Houthi targets in Yemen three times since the start of the war. On July 20, 2024, the IDF launched strikes against targets in Hodeidah in response to a UAV strike on Tel Aviv and other Houthi attacks. On September 29, 2024, the IDF again attacked targets in Hodeidah in response to rocket attacks on Israeli territory from Yemen. The third attack took place on December 19. The IDF did not confirm or comment on reports from some media about the participation of the Israeli Air Force in strikes against targets in Yemen on the evening of December 21.

The command of the Yemeni Islamist terrorist organization Ansar Allah (Houthis) says it will continue to strike Israel.
