UNRA will receive an increased budget despite the evidence of terrorism

The UN General Assembly approved the organization’s budget for 2025, including an increase in UNRA’s budget by 5.5 million dollars. This, despite the findings of the Colonna report, which stated that UNRA served as a cover for terrorist activities by Hamas.

The report pointed to widespread politicization among the organization’s employees, evidence of their involvement in the October 7 attack, and the use of UNRWA institutions for the terrorist organization’s military and political needs.

Arab countries and their partners rejected any attempt to acknowledge the findings of the report, and even blocked mention of its findings in the budget debates. In doing so, they revealed their support for maintaining the status quo, in which UNRWA is used as a tool by Hamas to achieve its goals.

Ambassador of Israel to the United Nations, Danny Danon strongly condemned the decision: “The UN continues to empower Hamas through UNRWA, instead of shutting down a failed organization that used its mandate to harm the security of the region. If the UN was really interested in improving the lives of the Palestinians, it would leave UNRWA In the past and a new page is opened. Israel calls on the international community to recognize the dangerous reality behind UNRA, to stop funding the organization, and to demand transparency and real policy change in favor of stability and security”.
