In the United States, the holidays are experienced with a complicated climate

Winter winds in the United States have caused deadly surf conditions in the western states and reports of tornadoes in Texas, while other parts of the country faced severe weather conditions during the holidays.

With waves of up to 9.1 meters in some areas of California, the US National Weather Service issued a high surf warning for the West Coast through Sunday and warned inexperienced surfers and swimmers to stay out of the water.

Blame the weather for multiple injuries and at least one death after a man was found under debris on the coast. The public was asked to be attentive and “never turn your back on the ocean.”

Meanwhile, storms in parts of Texas led to tornado sightings and flight delays on Thursday.

A snowfall unlike anything seen since 2009 left New York dressed in white this Christmas.

It took 15 years for New Yorkers to have a snowy Christmas again: the city of skyscrapers on Wednesday dawned white, a postcard that used to be seen in Hollywood movies and that had been forgotten.

The National Weather Service considers it a white Christmas if there is 1 inch or more of snow on the ground at 7 a.m. on December 25.

The snow that fell in New York City on Tuesday morning did not melt overnight, leaving Central Park and major avenues with 1 inch recorded on the ground as of 7 this Wednesday.

New York City’s last white Christmas was in 2009, when there was 2 inches of snow (5 centimeters).

Boston also had a white Christmas this year, with 6.5 centimeters of snow on the ground.

The weather is expected to be milder this weekend, with temperatures of 4.4 degrees Celsius in New York and 10 degrees in Chicago.

The Weather Service also warned of possible river flooding this week in western Washington and Oregon. Some areas could see 6 to 12 inches of rain over the next five days.

A winter storm warning has been issued for the Cascade Mountains in Washington, where Up to 8 centimeters of snow could accumulate these days.

Dallas, Houston and Shreveport, Louisiana, are all in the path of what the Weather Service called “severe weather”.

In the south, the area with the hottest climate in the country, a new round of severe weather was expected starting this Thursday, with a high threat of tornadoes, hail and hurricane force winds.

It is also possible that some sectors of Florida will flood, as a result of heavy rains.
