Ministry of Justice, pending investigations

For its part, the Ministry of Justice and Law said today in a statement that “has been aware of the unfortunate events that occurred in La Picota prison, regarding the death (…) of Francisco Luis Correa Galeano”.

“Once the fact was known, the authorities were called and the Attorney General’s Office “proceeded to the corresponding investigative work and the removal of the body at the scene,” added the information.

Meanwhile, Francisco Bernate, lawyer in Colombia for the prosecutor’s family Pecciassured that it is “regrettable that Correa was murdered in a Colombian penitentiary, who he said was serving a sentence for his”confessed participation” in that homicide.

He also recalled that Correa I was going to receive on January 19th a “judgment definitive in which he was going to be forgiven for the crime of homicide and he was only convicted for carrying weapons.”
