A former football player, an 18-year-old student, a man with two children… The victims of the mass car accident in New Orleans

The forensics of New Orleans They are trying to identify the 15 fatalities of the mass accident occurred during the New Year celebrations. A former American football player, a Latina woman single mother of a 4-year-old child, a 37-year-old man father of two children and an 18-year-old student are among the deceased.

The Latina woman was identified by local newspaper NOLA.com as Nicole Perez27 years old and originally from Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans. His supervisor, Kimberly Usher, explained that Perez leaves behind a 4-year-old child, whom he was teaching reading and math. Also that he had just received a promotion to manager at the business he worked at and was preparing to move to a new apartment.

Another victim identified by NOLA.com is Tiger Beech who was also 27 years old, a former football player at St. Thomas More Catholic High School and Princeton University from Lafayette, Louisiana. Bech was transported alive to a New Orleans hospital, where he was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning.

After graduating from Princeton, Bech had moved to New York for work and was in New Orleans for New Year’s.

Bech was the Jack Bech’s older brother, Also an American football player, currently a receiver for Texas Christian University (TCU) and previously for Louisiana State University (LSU).

“I will always love you, brother. You inspired me every day and now you can be with me every moment! I’ll take care of the family, T, don’t worry,” Bech said in a message through X.

Others who died are Reggie Huntera 37-year-old man, father of two children or Nikyra Dedeauxan 18-year-old student.

The New Orleans Coroner’s Office raised the death toll from the attack from 10 to 15 on Wednesday afternoon. The coroner indicated that he will identify all of the victims once the autopsies are completed.

Authorities have identified Shamsud-Din Jabbar, 42 years old and of American nationality, as the author of the attack that occurred around 03:15 local time (09:15 GMT). Jabbar died during the attack.

Jabbar used a rented white Ford F-150 truck for the mass attack on the central Bourbon Street, the tourist heart of the city and closed to traffic during New Year’s celebrations.

In the vehicle, authorities located an Islamic State (IS) flag, weapons and a possible improvised explosive device.
