The decorated US soldier who killed himself and blew up a Tesla pick-up in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and acted in a sort of “awakening”, as stated by the authorities in charge of the investigation. Matthew Livelsberger37 years old, committed suicide on January 1st aboard a Cybertruck Tesla which, filled with fuel and fireworks, exploded and caught fire.
The rental car was located in front of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, the gambling capital of the western United States. Authorities identified the soldier from his documents and said he was the only one in the vehicle. Two weapons were found in the vehicle, one of which was at his feet.
The notes written on a phone belonging to Livelsberger provided some clues to the special forces officer’s motivations, police said at a news conference. “This was not a terrorist attack, but a wake-up call,” one of the notes read. “Americans only pay attention to spectacle and violence – what better way to get my point across than with fireworks and explosives?” “Why did I do this personally? I need to clear my mind of the brothers I’ve lost and relieve myself of the burden of the lives I’ve taken.” According to authorities, Livelsberger was a member of the special forces and was on leave.
