“Argentina will not be complicit in the silence in the face of the injustices and abuses of the (Nicolás) Maduro regime,” said the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, in an official statement released to the press this Saturday (4) after meeting at the Casa Rosada with the Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia, de facto winner of the presidential elections held in Venezuela in July 2024, which were rigged by Chavismo.

“Our position is clear: freedom, justice and democracy for all Venezuelans”, recalled Milei, further emphasizing the need to build what he considered should be a Latin America “prosperous and free from the oppressive treatment of any type of quality government dubious democracy”.

González visited Argentina this Saturday, where he was received with celebration. The country was the first stop in a series of trips that the opponent is making in search of support for his inauguration as the new Venezuelan president, which should take place on the 10th, the same day that dictator Nicolás Maduro states that he will officially assume office. his third term at the head of the country. Maduro and his chavista National Electoral Council (CNE) rigged the July elections, which the opposition, represented by González, claims, with evidence, to have won by a large margin.

In Montevideo, his next stop, González is expected to meet with the outgoing president, Luis Lacalle Pou. In the USA, he must meet with American congressmen and wants to talk to Joe Biden, who is living his last moments at the helm of the White House.
