In the Russian Federation, a criminal case was opened against Tamara Eidelman for “rehabilitation of Nazism”

The Russian prosecutor’s office has opened another criminal case against historian and lecturer Tamara Eidelman, this time under paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (rehabilitation of Nazism using the Internet), RIA Novosti reports.

In December 2024, the Dorogomilovsky Court of Moscow fined Tamara Eidelman 50,000 rubles for “discrediting the Russian army.” Previously, Eidelman was fined for incorrectly labeling a foreign agent, which she was declared to be in Russia in the fall of 2022.

In June 2024, the Moscow prosecutor’s office conducted an investigation into historian Tamara Eidelman and identified statements “expressing clear disrespect for the day of military glory of Russia and the memorable date of Russia associated with the defense of the Fatherland, as well as insulting the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland.” The prosecutor’s office said that these statements were identified during network monitoring in the author’s program on Eidelman’s channel – probably referring to her YouTube channel “History Lessons with Tamara Eidelman.”
