The person responsible for the New Orleans attack used a homemade explosive never used in the US or Europe

Shamsud Dim Jabbar, responsible for the death of 14 people in an intentional car accident during New Year’s Eve in New Orleans, used a homemade explosive never used in the United States or Europe to make two bombs, which did not explode, according to sources cited by the NBC network.

Now the investigation focuses on knowing how he learned about this explosive and how he managed to manufacture it. It is also unclear whether the two bombs did not explode due to a technical failure, lack of detonation or another issue, since Jabbar had prepared a remote activation device.

Last Friday, the federal police (FBI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives published a statement explaining that the two devices were placed on Bourbon Street in New Orleans before the accident.

In Jabbar’s truck were the transmitter to activate the bombs and two guns that are being analyzed in an FBI laboratory.

Before the attack, Jabbar set fire to a short-term rental house on Mandeville Street in New Orleans to eliminate evidence. Remains of materials for making bombs were found at the site.
