BIH: Former HVO military police commander in Livno accused of war crimes against Serbs

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an indictment against the former commander of the military police of the Croatian Defense Council (HVO) in Livno, Muhamed Ibrahimovi, who is accused of war crimes against civilians of Serbian nationality.

As it was confirmed on Monday from the headquarters of this prosecutor’s office in Sarajevo, the Ibrahimović (59) was accused because in the premises of the elementary school in Livno, which was used as a camp for Serbian civilians, he acted contrary to the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilians during Armed Conflicts.

He is charged with the crimes he committed together with other members of the HVO, including torture, beatings and other inhuman acts against imprisoned civilians.

As a result of the abuse to which they were exposed, three detained civilians died, while the others suffered permanent consequences for their physical and mental health.

Thus, the Ibrahimović committed the criminal act of a war crime against the civilian population from the Criminal Code of BiH, for which a sentence of at least ten years in prison is provided.

On Monday, the indictment for war crimes was brought against the former member of the Bosnian Serb army, Radinko Stevanovic (52). He is accused of participating in the illegal detention and murder of between 400 and 500 persons of Bosniak nationality in the area of ​​Karakaj near Zvornik in eastern Bosnia.
