LBCI: The US is putting pressure on Israel, seeking the withdrawal of troops from Lebanon

The Lebanese television channel LBCI reports that the US administration is putting pressure on the Israeli government, seeking the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon within 60 days, as provided for in the ceasefire agreement. This deadline expires on January 26th.

It is also reported that American General Jasper Jeffers, who heads the commission monitoring compliance with the agreement, will arrive next week for negotiations in Israel. Recently, Jeffers visited southern Lebanon and praised the actions of the Lebanese army.

On the evening of January 5, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting with the participation of the ministers of defense, foreign affairs and finance, during which further actions of the IDF in Lebanon were discussed. At this stage, no decision has yet been made on whether to withdraw troops.
