Venezuela breaks diplomatic relations with Paraguay

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela announced this Monday the breaking of diplomatic relations with Paraguay and has stated that it will “immediately” withdraw its personnel in the Latin American country in retaliation for the recent statements of the Paraguayan president, Santiago Peña.

In response, the Government of Paraguay has confirmed in a statement that it recognizes the opposition Edmundo González as elected president of Venezuela, so he has “the right to assume the leadership of his nation on January 10 in accordance with the sovereign will of the Venezuelan people. expressed on July 28”.

The statement was published shortly after Caracas’ announcement about the breaking of diplomatic relations.
