Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia He stated this Monday, during his visit to Washington, that his team meets “regularly” with representatives of the president-elect of USA, Donald Trumpbut he did not clarify if he will see the Republican.

González Urrutia explained this in brief statements to the press at the end of a meeting with the general secretary of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro at the organization’s headquarters.

The Venezuelan politician met this Monday with the outgoing president of USA, Joe Bidenin the White House but did not confirm if he will also meet with Trump, who will assume power on January 20.

“The team here in Washington meets regularly with them and we will continue to do so until the day the new Administration takes office.”, he responded when asked about possible contacts with Trump.

González Urrutia added that his policy towards the United States is “bipartisan nature”, in search of a good relationship with both Democrats and Republicans.

His visit to Washington is part of a tour to gather international support for the presidential inauguration scheduled for January 10.

The meeting with Biden, which was not on the president’s official agenda, lasted about 30 minutes.

After the meeting, González Urrutia stated that the conversation was “fruitful” and that Biden “accompanies from the heart” in his attempt to return to Venezuela for the investiture.
