The Israeli Army withdraws a brigade specialized in terrorism from northern Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported this Tuesday that the Kafir Brigade, one of the country’s main military forces and specialized in the fight against terrorism, has been withdrawn from the northern Gaza Strip after more than two months, although the security operation against the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) is still active in the area.

During the mission – which continues to be led by the IDF’s 162nd Division – Israeli forces have participated in airstrikes and also in ground clashes in which “many Hamas terrorists” have been eliminated, some of whom participated in the attacks of October 7, 2023, triggering the Israeli offensive on Gaza and the subsequent regional war.

During the mission – which continues to be led by the IDF’s 162nd Division – Israeli forces have participated in airstrikes and also in ground clashes in which “many Hamas terrorists” have been eliminated, some of whom participated in the attacks of October 7, 2023, triggering the Israeli offensive on Gaza and the subsequent regional war.

In addition, these operations have served to seize weapons and destroy underground routes and Hamas infrastructure. The main maneuvers have taken place in the towns of Beit Lahia and Beit Hanun, and also in the Seij Zayed neighborhood, all of them areas that “represented a threat to the activity” of the Israeli forces and the settlements in the northern area.

These same areas have been subject to heavy attacks and have seen numerous civilian casualties, according to Palestinian sources. However, Israel assures that among the deceased there are “influential members of Palestinian terrorist groups”, including those who participated in the attacks of October 7, 2023.

The Army has stressed that the operations sought to “end threats to Israeli communities living near the border with Gaza” in the north, although the brigade has been involved in the demolition of Palestinian homes that, according to the military were senior Hamas officials.

On the other hand, throughout this operation at least twelve Israeli soldiers have died in various incidents, and several dozen others have been injured, although many of them have returned to the front, according to information from the military authorities collected by the local newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.
