Trump has not ruled out taking the Panama Canal and Greenland by force

The newly elected US President Donald Trump did not rule out the use of military or economic means to acquire the Panama Canal and Greenland.

During a press conference at his Florida resort yesterday, when asked if he could assure the world that he would not use military or economic coercion to gain control of the Panama Canal and Greenland, Trump replied: – “No, I cannot guarantee either of these two points. But I can say one thing: we need them for economic security.”

Trump, who took office on January 20, also came up with a plan to make Canada a state of the United States, and also promised to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.

Reuters notes that two weeks before taking office, Trump began developing an aggressive foreign policy, disregarding diplomatic considerations and the concerns of US allies.

Trump criticized US spending on Canadian goods and military support, noting that the US does not benefit from it. He called the border between the two countries an “artificial line”.

He published a map of the USA on his Truth social page, showing what the USA would look like if Canada joined it.

The US president-elect has also not ruled out imposing tariffs on Denmark if it rejects his offer to buy Greenland, which he says is vital to US national security.

Denmark has declared that Greenland is an autonomous territory of its kingdom and is not for sale.
