OpenAI CEO Sam Altman accused by sister of sexual abuse

The CEO of OpenAI, the company behind the popular chatbot ChatGPT, has been sued by his sister. Ann Altman accuses her brother Sam Altman of years of sexual abuse. The CEO has called his sister’s claims “completely untrue”.

Ann Altman (30) states in her complaint that Sam Altman (39) abused and manipulated her from the late 1990s. The abuse allegedly started when she was 3 years old and stopped when the OpenAI CEO was an adult and she was still a minor. His sister has previously accused him of abuse on social media.

She demands damages from her brother and states that she has suffered serious emotional damage. She would also have increasingly higher medical costs for her psychological treatment. Bloomberg News estimated Sam Altman’s personal fortune last year at more than 2 billion dollars, approximately 1.9 billion euros.

The suit was filed in court in the American city of Saint Louis, Missouri. In that state, people can file charges of childhood sexual abuse until they are 31 years old.

Sam Altman responded to the complaint via message to X. “This situation causes enormous pain for our entire family,” he said on behalf of his mother and brothers.
