At least two dead in the fires that hit Los Angeles

The authorities of Los Angeles County, in the US state of California, reported this Wednesday that two people have died as a result of the fire that has devastated hundreds of hectares in Altadena and Pasadena.

The county’s fire chief, Anthony C. Marrone, detailed in a press conference that there are about 500 troops working on this fire, which has also left an undetermined number of injured and up to 100 burned structures, as reported by CNN. .

The authorities do not know the origin of the flames and have opened an investigation into the matter. The Los Angeles Fire Department is also fighting to control two other active outbreaks north of San Fernando and in the residential neighborhood of Palisades. The latter has already devastated more than 2,000 hectares.

The Chief of the Los Angeles Police, Robert G. Luna, has explained that they are in contact with other counties, although their top priority now is to guarantee the safety of residents and accelerate evacuations. More than 80,000 have had to leave their homes as the flames advance in the county.

The US Vice President, Kamala Harris, has expressed her concern on social networks about the fires and has called on the population to evacuate the area, as well as to follow the recommendations of local authorities.
