Boris Becker doesn’t see his future with the German Tennis Association for the time being. “There have also been discussions with me, but we have not yet found a solution as to how I can get more involved, as I have done in the past,” said Becker (57) in a Eurosport media round.
Becker served as Head of Men’s Tennis at the association from 2017 to 2020. After that, there were always considerations about working together again. However, no agreement was reached.
Not found together
“I don’t have enough time. The time I put in must also be paid for. There is value and counter-value, we couldn’t agree on that,” said Becker. “Nevertheless, the German Tennis Association is very close to me. There is no bad blood, we just didn’t get together professionally,” said the three-time Wimbledon winner.
As in the past, Becker will accompany the Australian Open, which begins this Sunday, as a TV expert on Eurosport. Becker also recently started a joint podcast with former tennis player Andrea Petkovic.

Unlike Becker, Petkovic works as a consultant for the DTB and looks after the young women. Angelique Kerber is also now working for the association as a consultant in the women’s sector. “It’s good when you include the most important former players like Angie or Petko,” said Becker.
