Almost two thousand people participated in theItalia Viva ‘nEXt’ event, at the Cartiere Carrara theatre to celebrate the leader’s 50th birthday, Matteo Renzi, and future political projects, since the release of his new book, “Influence him“, in bookstores from March 18th to the return of Leopolda, scheduled for next autumn, passing through the new challenge of meeting with the rest of the center-left opposition to challenge the prime minister, Giorgia Meloni, in the next elections.
“The Zen phase in which we eat mud and spit honey is over. The center who looks to the left in two years will be decisive in beating Meloni. Many are worried about us because they know that our 2-3% in two years will be decisive”, promises Renzi, who landed at the Cartiere Carrara theater delayed due to train circulation difficulties. Welcoming him were family, friends, the entire staff of Italia Viva and hundreds of supporters, with the musical background of ‘Forever young’ accompanying his climb onto the stage for the speech.
“Is Salvini incompetent or bad luck? Today the answer came: both. I launch an appeal to Meloni: give him any ministry but remove him from there”, Renzi quips, then targeting Prime Minister Meloni, protagonist of his new book : “We are not your subjects, we are not lying around.”
Also because, adds Senator IV, “they gave us dead and we are always here, seeing today’s media, the Meloni of 2025 seems to me to be Conte of 2020. I think the time has come to put our face at the service of a battle of civilization, saying things that the opposition doesn’t say and things that the media doesn’t say: Meloni is very different from what it seems and what the country needs.”
Then it’s time for lunch with Tuscan specialties: at the table, tomato soup, Imprunetina peposo, paccheri with Cinta Senese ragù, cheeses, typical cured meats and finally ice cream, while the birthday boy blows out the candles on a maxi cake amidst the applause of the audience.
In the middle, lots of greetings, crowds and selfies with the militants. “I take this opportunity to reveal our secret financier of today’s event. After defaming us, he fed us. Thanks Travaglio, today the director of ‘Fatto Quotidiano’ fed us with one of the causes that we won”, urges Renzi after having recalled all the steps and the recent acquittal in the case of the Open foundation.
The next appointment is Leopolda 2025, scheduled for 3-4-5 October in Florencein parallel with the regional elections in Tuscany where the former mayor and prime minister aims to return to the center of regional dynamics.
