Russian troops took the Ukrainian cities of Kalynove, in the Kharkiv region, and Yantarne, in Donetsk, according to the Russian Defense Ministry this Sunday in its daily war report.
“Units of the Zapad (West) military group liberated the city of Kalynove in the Kharkiv region,” about 30 kilometers south of Kupiansk, the Russian command said on Telegram.
According to the Ministry of Defense, in this sector of the battlefront, the Russian Army inflicted around 410 casualties on three motorized brigades and one territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the vicinity of four cities in the Kharkiv region and two in Donetsk.
The South military group also reported that it “liberated the city of Yantarne in the Donetsk People’s Republic”, located south of Kurakhove, a Ukrainian stronghold recently occupied by Russian forces.
Russia’s forces have continued to advance in recent months in eastern Ukraine, despite large numbers of casualties, with the aim of gaining full control of the Ukrainian regions annexed by Moscow in September 2022.
