In Tbilisi, the participants of the action threw eggs at the judges, some were detained

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reports that 9 people were detained during the rioting action that took place near the “Babilo” restaurant in Tbilisi.

The “Georgian Service” of “Azatutyun” states that on January 12, the judges held a corporate evening at the restaurant, and parallel to the evening, opposition citizens held an action in front of the restaurant, protesting against the decision of the Tbilisi City Court to detain the participants of the pro-European protests.

The situation on the spot was tense several times, police forces were concentrated on the spot, then special squads were brought.

Citizens started throwing eggs at the judges entering and leaving the restaurant, calling them “slaves”.

The police removed the protesters from the entrance of the restaurant and then detained some of them.

At the end of 2024, large-scale anti-government protests were held in Georgia against the last controversial parliamentary and presidential elections held in the country and against the government’s decision to abandon European integration. The demonstrations were accompanied by clashes and arrests.
