First green light from the Chamber for the constitutional reform on the separation of magistrates’ careers. The votes in favor were 174, 92 against and 5 abstentions. In addition to the majority, Action and PiĆ¹ Europa voted in favor while Italia viva abstained. The Pd, M5s and Avs voted against.
The bill now passes to the Senate for the second of the four readings foreseen for the laws amending the Constitution. The first approval for the reform was welcomed by applause from the majority. “Of course, I’m happy”, commented the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio, speaking to reporters in Montecitorio. “The path is still long – he adds – and it is good that the people also have a say” with the referendum.
