Residents of Jaramana, a southeastern suburb of Damascus populated predominantly by Druze, refused to allow a convoy of representatives of the new government to enter the settlement.
According to the telegram channel “War and Peace in the Middle East”, the Druze proclaimed autonomy and announced the creation of self-defense forces that will continue to exist until the Druze are convinced that the new government is able to protect them.
Let us recall: the de facto leader of Syria, Ahmad al-Shara, the leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which overthrew Bashar al-Assad, said that armed groups must lay down their arms. The Kurds, who control northeast Syria, refused this.
