Northern UK is on red alert due to Storm Eowyn

A red alert has been introduced on the morning of January 24 for the coasts of Scotland and Northern Ireland due to Storm Eowyn approaching the British Isles. Wind gusts reach 160 kilometers per hour. The wind carries rain and sleet.

Educational institutions will remain closed in Northern Ireland. Residents are warned to stay home. Traffic disruptions are expected and damage to tiled roofs is possible.

Meteorologists believe the storm will be the most powerful in decades. Along the coast of Wales, south west and west England the alert level will be yellow. The expected wind speed is 90 kilometers per hour.
